Bloodwork helps us analyze your pet’s health and see if they may be suffering from underlying health conditions. They are performed almost daily by our veterinary technicians, and they are minimally invasive. Most pets feel little to no discomfort while their blood is being drawn. Why are blood tests important for my cat’s or dog’s health?

Blood sampling is an important part of wellness exams, and allows us to detect (well before they display symptoms) if your pet has infections, diseases and other harmful conditions.

How long does it take to get blood test results?

Most of our diagnostics are done in-house, with test results available within 1 to 2 hours. We send more complex tests to an independent laboratory if needed. Results from those types of tests are received in roughly 2 to 3 business days.

How often should blood tests be done?

Frequency will depend on many factors such as your pet’s age, breed and any condition they may have. Since your furry family member should be visiting us for a wellness exam at least once per year, they should be getting bloodwork at the same frequency.
